Devilishly Good DIY Halloween Costumes

Spooky season is upon us, and what better way to get into the spirit than creating costumes for your little angels, (or devils!)

Prepare for some frighteningly fun fancy dress, we have some great DIY outfit ideas you can fashion at home with items you may already have in your wardrobe or recycling box - classic black bin liner optional of course.

Astronaut

Your fledgling space explorer will light up the halloween line up with their out of this world outfit. Help them get ready for lift off by starting with a grey or white all-in-one or sweatshirt and joggers set as their space suit before adding silver details. Wellie boots and a bike helmet make the perfect add-on accessories - silver spray paint will revamp them to match the theme. Finish with a rucksack and plenty of tin foil which can be used for metallic accents around neck, sleeve cuffs or as a belt for a space suit NASA would be proud of.

You will need;

White or Grey clothing - jumpsuits or tracksuits work well

Wellies

Bike Helmet

Rucksack

Tin Foil - perfect for bracelet cuffs, neck ring or even a belt; silver scouring pads could also be attached to look like a tool belt

Silver spray paint

Fairy Princess

Add a touch of magic to their outfits this Halloween! Whether you prefer an angelic all white outfit or some serious sparkle our hand crafted felt wings and wooden wand are the most adorable magical set fit for a fairy princess. We recommend styling with a statement tutu or tulle skirt in pretty pastel colours or pure white - which would you choose?

You will need:

Pastel/White coloured clothes, fairy or princess costumes also encouraged!

Tutu or tulle style fabric to make a skirt

Fairy wings & magic wand set

Care Bear

Sharing is caring! Steal this cult classic toy’s style by letting your little one become the life-size version of their huggable bff bear with a brightly coloured co-ord hoodie and joggers set, felt fabric tummy detail and matching ears. Will they be Funshine yellow, Cheer pink or even Grumpy blue? Letting them select their favourite colours or identify their mood can help with both colour and emotional recognition, even fancy dress can be a learning opportunity.

You will need;

Monochromatic coloured hoodie and matching coloured bottoms

Colour and white felt fabric for ears and tummy design

Craft scissors

Fabric Glue

Happy trick or treating!
